About the artwork
This series of artworks is based on Novak’s interpretation of the groundbreaking British pop artist Richard Hamilton description of pop art as being “‘transient, glamorous, expendable, sexy, and popular”. Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia is a super celebrity in what Novak calls the “hyper-inflated world of American stardom” and the artist is interested in combining his love of pop and street art while exploring the idea of escapism through science fiction. Princess 1.1 is the largest of the New Blood Pop series and is in a smaller edition than the other prints.
