Starman 1.5 (Silver) - BL

Brad Novak
SKU: 11887
Availability: Out of stock

8-layer screen-print with gloss lacquer on 1m diameter white serigraph board.

It might be hard to appreciate but these small metallics weren’t easy to create. They have 5 different layers of silver ink within the moon alone. Differing shades and screenprinting techniques were utilised to give more realism and depth to the moon.

Ready-to-hang and floats 10mm from wall, 1000mm diameter.

About the artwork

Brad Novak (aka New Blood Pop) is a NZ-based urban pop artist who wants us to “keep our inner child alive”.

Novak is the first artist in New Zealand’s history to exhibit with global superstars such as Warhol, Haring, Lichtenstein, Mr. Brainwash and BANKSY (Toronto, 2015).

This practice of Novaks is under one of his main themes 'The Digital Dilemma'- in the artists own words:

"This increasingly technological age hasn’t made us any happier, or connected us more deeply, rather it’s been doing the exact opposite!"

This led into further commentary:

“A few years ago I started a series centred around the concept of the Shadow Life. I’ve been developing a theory that many of us (myself included) have been living these shadow lives, distracted by tech, avoiding our very human emotions, lacking compassion for ourselves and others. These works are about signalling that shallowness… that untapped potential. What could we become if we embraced our authentic inner self?

Fast forward to 2020, the pandemic is in full swing, and I believe these pieces are increasingly relevant. Not because they are Covid-inspired (they aren’t), but because they hint at a universal truth that the pandemic is making even more obvious...

...We all have limited time - Let’s not waste it!”

Novak currently shows internationally with galleries in the USA, Canada, UK and NZ.

Please note, it is highly advised that you collect the artwork yourself as the edges on this particular piece are easily damaged/dented if dropped or leaned/placed on the ground without adequate padding. Our suggestion is that you unwrap it and get it on the wall as soon as is feasible.
