"My inclusion of the dental partial plate is a realistic enough as it spent as much time out of my mouth as in.
The painting reaped the disfavour of my friend, the artist Tom Mutch. However, my experience with the unexpected popularity among dental surgeons of the ‘Partial Plate’ painting made me confident to include this one in my show at the John Leech Gallery. It was the first to sell."
