About the artwork
On a drive to Auckland in the 1960s, when passing the open expanse of the old airport, you could see the inexorable swelling of the land towards the peak of the mountain. Infil of buildings has now hidden this view from the northbound traveller. This is a very good example of the beautiful Blues that Michael Smither mixes, being very well recognised as being incredibly talented with his 'Michael Smither Blue".
A masterpiece of Smither's screenprinting work.
